Agents, Focus on Your Strengths & Delegate the Rest
Today, I want to share some golden advice for my real estate agent friends about growing your business by doing what you do best and letting others handle the rest.
Jill Biggs, who leads a whopping team of 61 agents and a bunch of support staff at the Jill Biggs Group with Coldwell Banker in New Jersey, dropped some wisdom that I think everyone should hear. She’s all about playing to your strengths and getting help with everything else.
Jill’s big on focusing on what she’s ace at – like solving problems and managing chaos (she calls it “herding cats”). She suggests that agents, especially newbies, start by hiring an assistant to take some load off. As things pick up, you might add another agent or assistant to your team. Starting small and slowly building up is key.
Her advice? Don’t try to do it all by yourself, especially if you want to grow big. It’s about finding your groove and then adding people to your team who excel in areas you might not.
Sean Soderstrom, co-founder and CEO of Courted, a real estate software company, chimed in with some tech-savvy insight. He’s seen firsthand how the right technology, like AI, can make a huge difference in understanding agent productivity and making the most of your time.
What Sean and Jill are getting at is pretty straightforward: specialize in what you’re really good at and delegate or use tech for the rest. This way, you can focus on the tasks that make the biggest impact.
So, whether you’re amazing at closing deals, have a knack for marketing, or are the king or queen of client relations, stick to your strengths. And for everything else? There’s always someone (or something) that can help.
